Coronation Property officially broke ground on its landmark 55-storey mixed-use tower in Parramatta, 8 Phillip Street, on Friday 31 July 2020. Located alongside the historic Paramatta riverside precinct, the project is the site of future residences and Western Sydney’s maiden QT Hotels & Resorts property.
At a sod-turning ceremony, The Hon. Dr Geoff Lee MP said 8 Phillip Street marks “another step in Parramatta’s rapid and ongoing development as Sydney’s second CBD”.
“Not only does it add more in the way of much-needed housing for the people of Western Sydney, [but] it also combines five-star hotel accommodation – a trend which is seen in major cities across the world, such as New York,” Lee remarked.
The 8 Phillip Street tower will scale new heights for Western Sydney residential living, with 314 studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, and a selection of penthouses. The tower will feature a twisting rhomboid design and mesh-embedded glass cladding, a first for Western Sydney.
Beneath the 35 storeys of apartments, the structure will include a 250-room QT Hotel over 18 storeys, complete with a signature restaurant, multiple meeting and event spaces and a grand ballroom. A Rockpool Dining Group’s signature restaurant will be included in the precinct’s food and beverage offering.
When the project was first announced in 2016, Event Hospitality and Entertainment’s Group MD David Seargeant said Parramatta was an “ideal location” for the Western Sydney property due to its thriving community and business district.

“QT has become one of Australia’s most exciting hotel brands that is synonymous with art, design, fashion, architecture and entertainment, and sought out by design-driven travellers. Coronation Property’s high standard of design for this project aligns perfectly with our brand making this such a great partnership,” Seargeant said at the time.
