The Domaine des Etangs, a 5-star hotel in the French countryside

Set in the heart of the Charente, less than 3 hours from Paris by train and 2 hours from Bordeaux, the Domaine des Etangs sprawls over 2,500 acres of protected nature, spread across forests, grassland, and ponds.

It is a place of life where guests can enjoy one of the seven suites and rooms in the 13th century Château, in the Longère which contains the four seasons, or in one of the six farmhouse cottages scattered across the Domaine.

At the Domaine des Etangs, guests will have the possibility to choose between three types of accommodation:

The Château

The Château is an elegant blend of modern and ancient. It is located at the entrance of the Domain, in the immediate proximity of various facilities, activities and services: restaurant, wellness space, swimming pools, indoor playroom, fitness room, exhibition place, libraries…

Whether your clients’ stay in one of these four suites, or in one of the three cosy rooms, , they will enjoy the same exceptional view of nature, the gardens of the Domaine. Some of these suites and rooms have glass ceilings, which provide a splendid framework of the Château’s towers.

The Longère

The “Longère” is located at the entrance of the Domaine, a few steps from the Château. It is a long building typical of the rural architecture, where the Château’s stables were previously positioned.

The Longère houses four Suites in harmony with the four seasons, the gastronomic restaurant Dyades as well as the boutique of local artisan and Dragonfly collection products.

The Farmhouse Cottages

Ideal for families or groups of friends, there are six elegantly renovated old farms. These cottages, from one- to five-bedrooms, are located in the heart of the Domain, about 2 kilometres from the Château, the restaurant, and the Wellness space.

Here guests can be more isolated and independent while enjoying the services, facilities, and activities of the hotel. In the cottages, each room has its own bathroom with bath and/or shower.

An ideal location for stays in couple with family or friends

Whether your clients want to rest, have fun, or even just enjoy the outdoors, they are sure to find what they are looking for at Domaine des Etangs. Onsite amenities include:

• Indoor heated swimming pool, open year-round
• Outdoor swimming pool, open from the beginning of May to the end of September, heated to 25°C

• Floating tennis court
• Indoor playroom in the Attic of the Château

• Treatments and massages at the Moulin des Etangs, the Wellness Centre

• Discovery of the art exhibition open every day until the end of January.
• And many other activities for all: sports, well-being, relaxation or cultural activities: bicycle rides on the private paths of the Domain, crossing the ponds by small boat, meditation, historical visit, discovery of the organic vegetable garden, “no kill” fishing, discovery of the farm of the Domain…

An ideal place to discover the local gastronomy

Thanks to its 2,500-square-metre certified organic permaculture vegetable garden, the Dyades restaurant can rely on a very short circuit from the garden to the plate.

With the passing seasons, Dyades is committed to enhancing the gifts of nature, the riches of the Nouvelle Aquitaine region and the know-how of men. This commitment moreover has been rewarded with a Michelin star since 2016.

At the table of Dyades, chef Geraud Dupuis, who arrived last June, offers a constellation of dishes in generous harmony. Guests are treated to three menus available for lunch and dinner with food and wine pairing.

Open daily in high season, and from Tuesday to Sunday during other periods. On Mondays and Tuesdays, a buffet is available for hotel guests, as well as room service.

An ideal place for relaxation

Upon entering the Domaine, guests are immediately seized by a sense of calm. Everything is designed to make one feel good and balanced again.

Located by the water, the Wellness space is housed in an old watermill, Le Moulin des Etangs. It can be reached by a stone bridge, leaving the Château behind to enjoy an interlude dedicated to wellbeing.

In addition to traditional beauty treatments, the Wellness space has created the ultimate face and body treatments and massages. Each treatment is designed around the seasons and nature and is to be enjoyed by both grown-ups and children.

Domaine des Etangs – a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and Virtuoso – will close its doors after the Christmas and New Year celebrations, from 6 January to 04 March 2021 inclusive.
