Lindblad Expeditions has just announced two new itineraries for travellers to explore Japan in 2021.
For the first time ever, Lindblad Expeditions will be taking guests to the fascinating coastlines of Japan to discover all that the country has to offer: historic temples, tea houses, unique culture, ancient tradition and sub-tropical islands. Plus, the itineraries will also offer a taste of Taiwan and Korea.
The 15-day ‘Coastal Japan: Imperial Dynasties and Modern Culture’ will take travellers from samurai to shrines, starting in Tokyo and ending in Osaka. The journey provides an in-depth exploration of Japan’s most iconic sites with highlights including UNESCO World Heritage site Gyeongju, the arts and crafts of island Naoshima and spectacular Japanese gardens in Kenroku-en, Koraku-en and Sengan-en.
Explore the vibrant Japanese undersea, in addition to marvelling at the historic and cultural surroundings on the 14-day ‘Sailing the East China Sea: Japan, Okinawa & Taiwan’. This expedition is filled with a variety of landscapes and cultural treasures, starting in Osaka, cruising down the Japanese coast of Honshu, through the Okinawa Islands and ending in Taiwan.
The inaugural journeys depart from September 2021, travelling on the National-Geographic Orion with a maximum of just 102 guests. Prices start for from $26,000 per person, twin share for 15 days on the ‘Coastal Japan: Imperial Dynasties and Modern Culture’, and from $24,150 per person, twin share for 14 days on the ‘Sailing the East China Sea: Japan, Okinawa and Taiwan’. Both include meals, transfers, excursions and services of an expedition leader, a team of naturalists and photo instructors, as well as a National Geographic photographer.
