Fijian resorts recognised in Conde Nast Traveller awards

Likuliku Lagoon Resort ranked 13th Best Resort in the World in annual poll

Seven Fijian luxury resorts have been recognised in the 2020 Condé Nast Travellers‘ Reader’s Choice Awards, including four listings inside the Top 10.

Heading the charge among the Fiji properties was Likuliku Lagoon Resort on Malolo Island in the Mamanuca Islands, which was ranked second, with a near-perfect score of 99.78.

Likuliku Lagoon Resort also ranked highly on the global stage, coming in 13th in Condé Nast’s Top 50 Best Resorts in the World.

“In what has been and continues to be an extraordinarily challenging year for us and our entire industry, these accolades could not have come at a better time,” said Tony Whitton, Resort Owner and Managing Director of Fijian family-owned Ahura Resorts.

“After being in these awards before, this is once again significant praise from Condé Nast readers and our loyal guests who have voted our luxury adults-only resort in the top 15 in the World – and consequently second in Australia and South Pacific and number one in Fiji.”

“It is also a wonderful statement for Fiji with six other leading Fiji resorts in the top 20 Best Resorts in Australia and South Pacific. It is generally much sought after to be included in these awards and we continue to be humbled and amazed to be recognised in this way. It is a wonderful achievement and a testament to the quality of the product offering we have and the consistent delivery of our promise to our guests,” Whitton said.

“My heartfelt thanks goes to our incredible staff and management – especially to our outgoing Group General Manager of over 16 years Steve Anstey, and of course, to all our valued guests for their continued support. We look forward to the future with hope – when we can reopen our doors and welcome back guests from all over the world to share the Likuliku magic once again.”

Turtle Island Fiji in the Yasawa Islands was seventh, Nanuku Auberge Resorts Collection at Pacific Harbour on Viti Levu was ninth and Laucala Island Resort 10th.

The Reader’s Choice Awards Top 25 for Australia and the South Pacific also recognised Yasawa Island Resort & Spa (#12), Kokomo Private Island Resort (#14) and Namale Resort & Spa (#16).

The top resort in the region was New Zealand’s Matakauri Lodge, which achieved a score of 99.8.
