Visit Sunshine Coast (VSC) has named Matt Stoeckel, Tourism Fiji’s current Chief Executive Officer, as its new head, commencing in early 2021.
Last week Stoeckel revealed his departure from Tourism Fiji after 4.5 years, when his contract concludes at the end of 2020.

Prior to joining Tourism Fiji, Stoeckel was at Destination NSW for two years and the Swire Group before that. He replaces Craig Davidson, who has been Interim CEO of Visit Sunshine Coast since June 2020 after the departure of Simon Latchford who held the title for almost four years.
At Tourism Fiji, Stoeckel was in charge of the roll out a new brand marketing campaign in 2019 which aimed to diversify the country’s tourism assets beyond its reputation for relaxation and family holidays.
Chair of Visit Sunshine Coast, David Ryan, said that Matt was eminently qualified for the role with VSC, and would build on the region’s tourism successes in recent years.
“Matt brings over a decade of high-level tourism expertise to the Sunshine Coast, including executive management roles with national and state tourism organisations. His experience in developing and refining brand identities for destinations will be critical for the Sunshine Coast as we launch and roll-out our new brand for the region over the next year.
“His success in creating a far deeper and more diverse reputation for Fiji’s tourism sector is very relevant to the Sunshine Coast, as we move into a new phase of tourism development on the Coast,” Ryan said.
