Mondrian to raise flag on the Gold Coast

Accor and sbe to manage dual hotel and residences at Queensland's Burleigh Heads

Accor and sbe have announced that the Gold Coast will be the Australian launch pad their Mondrian hotel brand.

The newbuild dual tower property, Mondrian Gold Coast, will consist of a hotel and branded residences, positioned on Queensland’s Burleigh Heads beachfront.

Mondrian Gold Coast will be developed on the corner of First Avenue and The Esplanade – one of the Gold Coast’s most desirable precincts – and offer direct access to the signature white sand beaches.

The project will feature two distinct towers to separate the private residences from the hotel. One tower will contain 89 luxury residential apartments, while the other will encompass 208 guestrooms. The buildings will be united by a three-level podium which will share facilities including a state-of-the-art fitness centre, spa, restaurants and swimming pools, all overlooking the beach and Burleigh Headland National Park.

This coastal Queensland location will be sbe’s first hotel property in Australia after the recent entry of Hyde Paradiso lounge in Surfers Paradise and Hyde Perth. It further cements the brand’s luxury lifestyle experiences in the Asia Pacific.

Earlier this year, Accor and sbe had confirmed an Australian location was on the horizon for the luxury lifestyle brand as part of an aggressive expansion globally.

Chadi Farhat, Chief Operating Officer, sbe said, “We are very excited to announce the opening of our first Mondrian hotel and residences in Australia with our partner Accor. The reveal of Mondrian Gold Coast follows the company’s opening of Mondrian Seoul Itaewon in August, and the announcement of Mondrian Shoreditch London just weeks ago, set to open in 2021.

Other properties are flagged for the Dominican Republic, Germany, the Maldives, Puerto Rico, Thailand, and Vietnam. By 2022, sbe plans to open 50 new hotels internationally, of which nine will fall under the iconic Mondrian brand.
