Six Senses flags late 2022 launch for first Caribbean retreat

Six Senses La Sagesse will cover a 15-hectare beachfront site in Grenada

Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has set a late 2022 opening for its first Caribbean resort, opening in Grenada in the West Indies.

Six Senses La Sagesse was announced 17 months ago and will spread across a 15-hectare site, positioned on a headland in the southern part of Grenada.

The resort will feature 56 guestrooms, seven one-bedroom villas and five two-bedroom villas, with no building higher than a palm tree.

Influenced by the region’s traditional architecture, the design language mimics a Caribbean village bursting with variety along the lakefront promenade and beach. The walkways through the gardens are made of repurposed nutmeg shells and cocoa skins, maintaining the connection to Grenada’s ‘Spice Island’ heritage.

Facilities include a Six Senses Spa overlooking the lagoon, designed in the style of a traditional fishing village. In-house experts and visiting practitioners will integrate local community knowledge and draw upon age-old local traditions and the healing benefits of indigenous plants and herbs to offer a menu of specialty spa and beauty treatments, Holistic Anti-Aging Center, Caribbean healing traditions and rejuvenation journeys.

The property will also feature other Six Senses hallmarks. They include:

  • The Great House
  • A signature restaurant dishing up Creole cuisine
  • The beach dining room
  • A bakery
  • The Alchemy Bar
  • The Sand Bar
  • Six Senses Earth Lab
  • A conservatory
  • A library
  • Grow With Six Senses activities for youngsters

The sprawling landscape caters for the active, complete with outdoor fitness trails and jungle gym. However, it also looks after the more reflective, with quiet locations for meditation, forest bathing, labyrinth walking, sensory foot reflexology, fire rituals and candlelight yoga.

Last month Six Senses revealed its first property in the Americas would open in early 2021, with the addition of Botanique Hotel & Spa, nestled in Brazil’s Mantiqueira Mountains.
