Aurora Expeditions has appointed cruise industry veteran Steve Mclaughlin as its new Director of Sales Asia-Pacific, based in Sydney.
With a career spanning over 30 years in the global travel and cruise industry – including leading brands such as Cunard, Ponant, Lindblad Expeditions, Orion and Oceania Cruises – Steve brings a wealth of experience, expertise and passion to the company ahead of its milestone 30th anniversary in 2021.
Most recently Mclaughlin worked for ILTM (International Luxury Travel Market) in a Business Development capacity.
“I am incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to join the Aurora Expeditions team. Travel is my absolute passion, especially expedition cruising,” Mclaughlin said.
“I was attracted to Aurora Expeditions as a home-grown Australian business that has an exciting future with the upcoming delivery of its second purpose-built ship, the Sylvia Earle, and outstanding new voyages scheduled in 2022. I cannot wait to work closely with Aurora Expeditions’ loyal trade partners on our new expedition itineraries and remote destinations,” he added.
Commenting on Mclaughlin’s appointment, Aurora Expeditions’ CEO Monique Ponfoort said: “Steve’s global sales connections, industry knowledge and customer service skills are exceptional. Mclaughlin’s appointment, effective today [7 December, 2020] comes as Dianna Schinella steps down from the role to a new position outside of the industry.
