A prime holiday destination, Maldives is traditionally known for its high-end luxury resorts with impeccable amenities, personalised service and boundless beauty. With more than 1,190 tiny islands scattered across the Indian Ocean, it is a captivating destination offering travellers the holy trinity of the sun, sea and sand.
Maldives offers a variety of luxury rooms and accommodations, along with innovative restaurants, modernised interior design, and spas which cater to all types of wellness needs. The nation attracts the attention of wealthy tourists, upscale travellers and global trendsetters. This has inspired hospitality brands to create and adapt different methods and guest experiences, of which some are unmatched and unique only to Maldives.
Bed, bath and luxury beyond are at the fingertips of visitors as they get to choose from a different variety of accommodation. Almost all resorts come with beach retreats, this is great for clients who enjoy the beach and the ocean, but would rather not opt for an overwater villa. Beach pool retreats are perfect for guests seeking total space, privacy and relaxation. Most overwater villas in Maldives are downright exotic with spacious arrangements and luxurious amenities to cater to your clients’ preference. They can enjoy a session of yoga on the large outdoor decks, sip cocktails in their private swimming pools or pamper themselves in an outdoor bathtub – they can have it all.
The Muraka at Conrad Maldives Rangali Resort has the first-of-its-kind luxury two-level residence, with a master bedroom submerged nearly 5-metres below sea level. Above water, guests can enjoy living and dining areas, an outdoor deck with infinity pool, private butler and private chef, and last but not the least, on-call fitness trainer and spa treatments. Down below, a master bedroom with a walk-in closet is available, with a dedicated tunnel viewing theatre.
What truly sets apart Conrad Maldives is Ithaa; the world’s first underwater restaurant. Dining here is a memorable experience. While the view steals the show – shimmering water filled with an abundance of marine life – the diverse food menu is exceptional too.
Some of the other noteworthy restaurants and bars below the ocean surface are:
- M6M by Atmosphere Resort Maldives
- H2O by You and Me by Cocoon Maldives
- Undersea Restaurant by Hurawalhi Maldives
- Sea Underwater Restaurant by Anantara Kihavah Maldives
- SUBSIX Underwater Bar by Niyama Private Island Maldives
To add to this list of under ocean experiences, Huvafen Underwater Spa at Huvafen Fushi is the first and only spa that is wholly located under the water.
Indeed, the under ocean experience in Maldives is no exemption from luxury. It offers truly unique escapades with fully submerged underwater accommodation, dining and spa facilities positioned meters beneath the ocean surface. Instead of waking up to the sun on their face, now guests can wake up to the colourful world of fish and coral.
Maldives does luxury resorts exceptionally well. But it is also famous for luxury liveaboards – one of the four tourism products of the destination. There is a great assortment of liveaboards which come in various sizes, shapes and standards.
Some have extravagant settings, spacious accommodation, vast sundecks, lavish buffets, fine dining and fine wine and luxury spa treatments for client’s seeking complete rejuvenation of the mind, body and soul.
A cruise on a liveaboard is an ideal way to explore the country, sailing between stunning islands. Think of it as a floating resort with luxury onboard and onshore experiences which offer a glimpse of the colourful local life.
Introducing the Maldives Border Miles
The Maldives Border Miles is a tourism loyalty program launched this month. The program was initiated by Maldives Immigration, together with joint stakeholders; Ministry of Tourism, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).
The three-tiered loyalty program is a first of its kind for tourists. Visitors who enrol in this program will earn points based on the number of visits and the duration of their stay. Additional points will be awarded for visits to celebrate special occasions.
The tiers are:
- Aida (bronze tier)
- Anantara (silver tier)
- Abaarana (gold tier)
Each tier will be defined by a set variety of rewards, services or benefits, which increase in value as members progress.
Visitors travelling to Maldives as a tourist can enrol to become a member of Maldives Border Miles. Points will be rewarded when guests stay in a registered tourist facility for at least three nights in Maldives. For the most recent updates of the program, see imuga.immigration.gov.mv/mbm
Maldives is where luxury is redefined, where dream vacation begins, where your clients will want to keep returning to over and over and over again.
