Ponant has sharpened its close-to-home proposition for the Australian high-end small ship cruise market, adding a second ship in local waters for 2021.

The French luxury expedition cruise line will deploy Le Soléal to the Kimberley region between May and September 2021, joining sister-ship Le Lapérouse.

Combined, the two Ponant ships will offer 16 expeditions along the Kimberley coastline next year.

Additionally, Ponant has introduced three new itineraries for Le Soléal exploring the Western Australia coastline and offshore reefs. View the itineraries here.

Deb Corbett, General Manager Sales and Marketing Asia Pacific said Ponant’s season extension has been driven by increasing demand for local exploration.

“We are releasing two new departures of Ponant’s top-selling ‘Australia’s Iconic Kimberley’ 10-night itinerary with the third being a newly created 12-night expedition featuring the best of the Kimberley coast and Rowley Shoals,” Corbett said.

“Guests will be able to experience this new program onboard Le Soléal, as she makes her come-back to Australasia and joins Le Lapérouse for a Kimberley season to remember.”

“Being purpose-built luxury expedition ships, both offer guests an abundance of balcony accommodation, perfect for private observation of the light changes on balmy evenings, as well as being the only ships in the Kimberley equipped with swimming pools… Nice to relax in after a day of exploration – and simply essential in a region where saltwater crocodiles abound!”

“Wrap this up in French ambience, discreet service, Open Bar and little luxuries such as Hermès toiletries and Charles Heidsieck champagne, on one side, and an outstanding and experienced  Australian Expedition team and Zodiac outings on the other. We feel this is the perfect balance for modern-day adventurers keen to explore these untouched remote locations.”

As a special end-of-year bonus, for a limited time, Ponant is offering an additional 5% saving across all voyages booked by 5 January 2021. This discount will apply to the ‘at-home’ Australian and New Zealand coastal voyages, as well as Ponant’s Antarctic expeditions, including the brand new hybrid polar explorer Le Commandant-Charcot scheduled to explore Antarctica during the summer of 2021/22.

The 5% saving is in addition to any current Ponant bonus pricing available, which can offer up to 30% savings for early adopters, Ponant said.
