Scenic is set to offer guests aboard its six-star Scenic Eclipse yacht the opportunity to take to the mountain slopes of Antarctica on a heli-skiing experience.
The new Expedition Excursion features in the freshly released 2022/23 Antarctica and South America program that comprises nine departures to Antarctica between November 2022 and February 2023, all ex Ushuaia, Argentina.
Along with Helicopter Flightseeing and Landings, wildlife encounters by Zodiac, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and submarine dives aboard Scenic Neptune, the luxury travel company will offer guests “skiing on the virgin powder snow of Antarctica”.
The Helicopter Skiing excursion will take guests “to the top of a mountain for the experience of a lifetime” (at an additional expense).
The fine print for the excursion does state that the experience will require guests to have “advanced skills to participate”, and that the activity is “subject to regulatory approval, availability, weight restrictions, medical approval, and weather and ice conditions”.
The backbone of Scenic’s Antarctica program is Scenic Eclipse‘s 13-day ‘Antarctica in Depth’ itinerary which has six dates. This itinerary leads in at $20,085 per person twin-share.
Also included are two longer 20-day departures that visit South Georgia and Falkland Islands (priced from $32,755 per person twin-share), and a 16-day ‘Into the Weddell Sea’ sailing that operates over Christmas and New Year’s Eve, which leads in at $24,965 per person twin-share.
Scenic is also offering 10 departures on Scenic Eclipse through South America over the period that top and tail the Antarctica voyages in 2022/23, and in the last quarter of 2023. These sailings range in length from 9- to 13-days duration, cruising along the coast of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Uruguay and Brazil.
A further two 17-day ‘Grand Voyage of Discovery’ departures are available between Rio de Janeiro and Lisbon at either end of the deployment.
The brochure for the program features a page on the benefits of cruising aboard Scenic Eclipse, recommending that clients do “some research on the ship, its features and inclusions” before they choose who to book their ocean discovery voyage with.
Guests can combine a cruise with one of Scenic’s nine escorted land journeys through Argentina, Patagonia, Brazil, Peru and the Amazon.
Further, the program includes voyages in the Amazon aboard Delfin III, which is operated by Delfin, a Relais & Chateaux member, and Galapagos Island cruises on Yacht La Pinta and Santa Cruz II, owned and operated by Metropolitan Touring.
Scenic is offering a Super Earlybird offer on its 2022/23 Antarctica and South America itineraries of up to 20% off when a cruise is paid in full 12 months prior to departure, and up to 10% on select suites.
