Captain’s Choice has introduced a new private jet adventure, travelling to New Zealand to visit three of the world’s most luxurious lodges.
Operating roundtrip from Sydney, the itinerary is available to just 35 guests aboard a business-class private jet across the Tasman, visiting the Bay of Islands, Lake Taupo and Queenstown. A whistle-stop is also made on Norfolk Island on the return journey.
Guests will stay at residences of the highest standard – The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs, Huka Lodge and Matakuri Lodge – and have the chance to explore each unique region and its stunning landscape.
Upon arrival in the Bay of Islands, guests will enjoy three nights at The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs, consistently rated one of New Zealand’s best lodges, set along a sweep of unspoilt coastline. With two full days to discover the Bay of Islands, guests will have the opportunity to take a boat cruise around neighbouring islands, visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds and enjoy a culinary expedition to Northland’s finest food and wine artisans.
Golfers in the group can enjoy a round of golf at the lodge’s private golf-course, one of the most famous in the southern hemisphere. There is a guided heritage tour across the Kauri Cliffs, scenic walks to Hikurua waterfall, Waiua Bay and Little Takou Beach, and for those who prefer to relax, a day of pampering at the lodge’s spa.
On Day Four of the journey, the private jet heads for Taupo. The award-winning Huka Lodge, an elegant resort set within 17 acres of manicured grounds, is home for the next three nights. Once settled amongst the tranquil surroundings of the Waikato River, guests will indulge in a five-course dinner prepared by renowned Chef Paul Froggatt. Over the next couple of days, guests can choose from an exciting array of experiences, from a trip to Rotorua to learn more about Māori culture to fly fishing at Tongariro River, a visit to Ōpepe Scenic and Historic Reserve, or a round of golf at either Kinloch or Wairakei golf course.
Day Seven sees the jet head for Queenstown and guests arrive at the ultra-luxe Matakuri Lodge, with its mesmerising views of the ‘big three’, The Remarkables, Cecil and Walter Peaks. On these last days of the journey, guests have the chance to travel through the dramatic Kawarau Gorge to Gibbston Valley Winery, home to New Zealand’s largest underground wine cave, and visit the beautiful nearby village of Arrowtown. The next day, guests will have the option of a Jet Boat experience along the Shotover River, a round of golf at Jack’s Point course or a day of shopping in Queenstown’s stylish boutiques.
On the penultimate day of the journey, guests will board the Captain’s Choice jet and head for the volcanic outcrop of Norfolk Island. They will stop at Mount Pitt to take in the views of the island’s lush green hills and rocky shoreline before visiting one of the finest historic buildings in the South Pacific, St Barnabas Chapel, and Kingston, the centre of the British Empire’s most brutal penal settlement. There is a farewell lunch at Norfolk Island’s iconic Hilli restaurant, before guests board the jet and return to Sydney.
Luxury Lodges of New Zealand by Private Jet is the latest journey from Captain’s Choice, designed to inspire Australians to explore their TransTasman neighbour.
As with all Captain’s Choice private jet journeys, groups are small and guests are accompanied at every stage by a Tour Manager and a Tour Doctor to ensure convenience and flexibility as well as health and safety.
Commenting on the itinerary, Captain’s Choice CEO Bas Bosschieter says, “Luxury Lodges of New Zealand by Private Jet is a signature Captain’s Choice journey. It has everything; luxurious accommodation, outdoor adventure, beautiful landscapes, golf, gourmet escapes, stunning landscapes and immersion in the fascinating local culture. It’s a New Zealand and Norfolk Island experience that only private jet travel can deliver, with everything included and the freedom to do as much or as little as guests choose.”
There are two departure dates planned for the itinerary on 19 September 2021 (10 days) and 18 November 2021 (11 days, includes an overnight on Norfolk Island), which are priced at $31,450 per person and $32,950 per person respectively.
