Abercrombie & Kent have released an air safari that encompasses South Australia and Tasmania’s finest epicurean, cultural, artistic and scenic highlights on a limited-edition itinerary.
Travelling aboard a privately chartered Fokker 70 VIP Jet, the Shores of the Southern Ocean journey is limited to only 18 guests flown in exclusive comfort and style.
The 12-day air safari takes off in Adelaide, hopping to Port Lincoln, Kangaroo Island, King Island, the Freycinet Peninsula and ending in Hobart.
Along the way, unique experiences are choreographed from meeting winemakers in the Barossa Valley to joining curators and conservators in Adelaide’s galleries and museums. Guests dine on Port Lincoln’s daily catch and meet the fishermen who haul it in. There are ample opportunities to admire abundant wildlife and epic landscapes throughout the journey and hear firsthand from a Kangaroo Island ecologist how the island is regenerating.
There are visits to workshops and studios where painters, sculptors and potters create singular works of art and firsthand instruction in beekeeping from a Freycinet apiarist. The region’s finest produce from local farms, dairies, providores and the bountiful ocean is dished up at paddock to plate and ocean to table feasts all washed down by some of the country’s best wines and home-distilled beverages.
Sujata Raman, Regional Managing Director Australia/Asia Pacific, A&K said this air safari gives a small group of discerning travellers the opportunity to appreciate up close a very small and special part of our great country with the added luxury and convenience of being flown from place to place aboard their own private jet avoiding airports, queues and crowds.
“There’s really no better way to travel,” Raman said.
Accommodation includes the new Sequoia Lodge in the Adelaide Hills, on Kangaroo Island the perfectly positioned One Kangaroo Island, Walcowrie and Oceanview Eco Villas, and the inimitable Saffire Freycinet all feature and are unique destinations in themselves.
With only one departure, special events have been curated to include a degustation dinner at Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant, a seafood masterclass at award-winning Boston Bay Winery, a Coffin Bay oyster appreciation like no other, bespoke cocktails at MONA and many rare wildlife encounters.
The 12-day Shores of the Southern Ocean: A Luxury Air Safari will depart on 20 October 2021 and is priced from $29,999 per person twin share.
