Scenic will resume European river cruises in 2021 at the end of July, with all-inclusive luxury itineraries on the Rhine and Danube rivers, Portugal’s Douro and France’s Garonne, Gironde and Dordogne rivers in Bordeaux.
Departures on Portugal’s Douro commence on 30 July, followed by France’s Bordeaux on 29 August, the Rhine on 30 August and the Danube on 27 September 2021.
“We are so excited to be able to greet our guests again after such a challenging year,” said Rob Voss, COO, The Scenic Group.
“Our teams in operations, sales and marketing have worked hard with our travel partners to bring about our European launch and we are seeing very positive responses from our guests, who have been looking forward to this news. We plan to continue adding more itineraries as Europe and many other countries like the USA, United Kingdom and Europe continue to re-open their borders to travel.”

There will be six Bordeaux cruise departures through October – the 11-day Beautiful Bordeaux and the eight-day Bordeaux Affair – that offer guests an immersion into all things French. The eight-day Gems of the Danube will have four departures in September and October.
However, for Australian and New Zealand residents, whilst there has been progress made with vaccination programs over recent months, based on the current forecasted international travel restrictions, Scenic has made the decision to suspend Europe River Cruising departures through to 31 December 2021.
That means that the next time an Aussie or Kiwi traveller will be able to cruise in Europe with Scenic will, at this stage (pending international travel limitations), be in early April 2022.

“The current situation is complex and changing day by day, with the continuing international travel restrictions, the emergence of new COVID variants, quarantine requirements, attraction closures and the extension of lock-downs impacting Australian and New Zealand travellers,” Scenic said in an update posted on its website last week.
Scenic has also shelved its Asia river cruise program and international land journeys for Australian and New Zealand guests, for departures between 1 September and 31 December 2021.
Impacted guests have been offered a Future Travel Credit Voucher for the amount they have paid. Full details on Scenic’s website.
