Uniworld Boutique River Cruises has released a new itinerary in the Netherlands for 2022 incorporating the Floriade festival held outside Amsterdam every 10 years.
The 8-day Dutch Delight voyage aboard the 130-guest River Empress operates roundtrip from Amsterdam in July and August, staying entirely within the Netherlands and exploring the Delta and the towns of Harlingen, Nijmegen, Veere, Rotterdam, Schoonhoven and Zaandam.

Uniworld President and CEO Ellen Bettridge says the itinerary enables guests the opportunity to “really deep dive into Dutch culture, both in the lively cities and the hidden gems of the villages”. The cruise comprises an itinerary “full of local charm and unique experiences,” she adds.
There are six days of excursions included and guests will explore two UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Day 7 of the itinerary provides guests with a full day exploring the Floriade International Horticultural Expo, held in the city of Almere, which next year is themed “Growing Green Cities” and will showcase green architecture and renewable energy and healthy living options, to name a few.
Alice Ager, General Manager Uniworld, said among the interesting ports on the itinerary are Harlingen where guests enjoy a Village Day or bike tour around the island, and Rotterdam and Lemmer, known as the ‘Little Venice of Amsterdam’.
“Due to the greater demand for itineraries covering only one country, seems a trend as a result of the pandemic, we have extended the program into 2023 as well,” Ager told LATTE. The departures in 2023 will however not include Floriade.
There are seven departures scheduled for 2022, departing on Saturdays between 16 July and 27 August, followed by another seven in 2023.
Pricing for next year’s sailings starts from $5,099 per person twin share in a Classic stateroom, through to $9,999 for a Suite, and in 2023 the special early bird fares begin at $4,299 per person.
