Ship designer and builder, Ulstein Group, has successfully completed the sea trials of the second X-Bow hulled Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic ship – National Geographic Resolution.
The vessel returned to the Ulstein Verft shipyard last week after three days at sea for the final construction phase before operating her first expedition cruise in Antarctica.
Ulstein reported that the sea trial tests included various manoeuvres such as the 360-degree turning test and power tests, as well as emergency tests.
National Geographic Resolution is the sister vessel of National Geographic Endurance, which was delivered in March 2020. Resolution is planned for delivery this year. Endurance operated its first expeditions in Iceland this summer.
Lindblad Expeditions has rostered National Geographic Resolution to operate its maiden voyage on 18 November 2021 – a 22-day Antarctica, South Georgia and the Falklands itinerary.
