Boutique new superyacht to head to the Bay of Islands for debut

Island Escape being put through its paces during its recent sea trials.

New Zealand’s Island Escape Cruises has taken delivery of its new superyacht, Island Escape, from Vard Vung Tau Ltd Shipbuilding Vietnam.

Delivered on 26 October 2021, the 32-passenger vessel will shortly reposition to Kiwi waters for the commencement of sailing.

Island Escape Cruises signed the contract for Island Escape in December 2019. Her keel was laid in June last year ahead of an initially forecast debut in the Kimberley in June 2021.

“Due to the difficult times caused by the pandemic the delivery was delayed from June to October,” the Kiwi company said in an update.

“However, the end result is outstanding, and we are thankful for the job done by the yard and the equipment suppliers. They have delivered to us a fantastic yacht and we are very excited to welcome guests onboard soon,” Island Escape Cruises said.

Island Escape is comprised of two Owners Suites, six Horizon Suites, two Solo Suites, five Ocean Suites and three Ocean Twin Suites.

Island Escape‘s inaugural sailing is currently scheduled as a 7-night Bay of Islands voyage on 5 December 2021, repeated on 12 December. An 8-night Christmas Holiday Voyage from Auckland to Nelson follows, departing 19 December.

From Nelson, the superyacht will be deployed to New Zealand’s Fiordland, operating a series of 8- and 12-sailings through the region, as well as Steward Island, until early April before the vessel is repositioned to the Kimberley coast for a full season (12 departures) cruising roundtrip from Broome, beginning early May 2022 through to September.
