Sydney International Airport is set for its first Arrivals Lounge in December 2021 with Plaza Premium Group forecasting to open the brand new facility before Christmas, LATTE can reveal. As international flights to Sydney begin to rebound, the award-winning airport lounge operator is now looking to fast-track the facility’s debut from the previously flagged early 2022 opening.
The Plaza Premium Lounge Arrivals will be accessed via and located under the same roof as the soon-to-open short-stay Aerotel Sydney Airport Hotel. Just steps away from the International Arrivals Hall ‘B’, and still within the terminal, the lounge will be available to guests who have just cleared passport and customs control.
An after-hours (11pm to 4am) entrance to the lounge will also be available outside the terminal.
A maximum of 40 guests will be able to utilise the lounge – which is adjacent to Aerotel – at any one time.

An entry fee of $35 (for 3-hours) provides patrons with unlimited access to a selection of signature beverages (Barista-made coffee, tea, fresh juices, local beer and Australian house wines) and seasonal dishes, including vegetarian dishes and gluten-free options, on request. Premium drinks will also be available at cost.
Three private showers will be available to lounge guests on a reservation basis (made with Aerotel reception), with complimentary amenities including shower gel, shower cap, hairdryer, towels and floor mat.
Plaza Premium Lounge Arrivals will also provide accessible washrooms, flight information displays and complimentary Wi-Fi.

The facility ticks the box for inbound passengers wishing to freshen up ahead of a meeting, business travellers wanting to meet in private, those continuing their journey inter- or intra-state with a lengthy connection time, or outbound passengers with an early morning flight who arrive at the airport before check-in opens.
Plaza Premium Group offers similar Arrivals lounge facilities at airports in select cities around the world, including at London Heathrow, Beijing Daxing International Airport, New Delhi and Rio de Janeiro Tom Jobin International Airport (lead image).
A spokesperson for Plaza Premium Group said the arrivals lounge is earmarked to open pre-Christmas.
Aerotel Sydney Airport Hotel itself is slated to open in Q2 2022 – a year behind schedule due to the pandemic. Aerotel Sydney will offer 15 rooms for solos and couples, each with a private ensuite and priced from $55 for a three-hour block.
Aerotel guests will be able to access entry to the Plaza Premium Lounge Arrivals facility at a special rate.
