Virgin Galactic has begun contacting prospective Future Astronauts to “secure your place in history” on an upcoming Priority List for its commercial space flights.
Potential space travellers were contacted this week for a chance to be among the frontrunners aboard VSS Unity – currently slated to begin passenger flights from Q4 2022.

“This is the opportunity to secure your place in line and be part of an extraordinary community of pioneers,” the email says.
“For a fully refundable deposit of $10,000, those on the Priority List will receive exclusive access to a limited number of spaceflight reservations directly from our Astronaut Office.”
The update also reconfirms the recent price adjustment for a ticket into space with Virgin Galactic, now selling at US$450,000 – up from the initial US$200,000.
“The Priority List will open in early 2022, and we will continue to update you with more information on how to join and secure your seat to space,” interested parties are informed.
A new questionnaire gauges when participants are interested in taking flight, how many seats they are keen to book (1, 2, 3-4, more than 4), and why they are want to fly into space?
The NYSE listed-company says it is gathering the information to provide “insights that will be used to personalise future experiences and content from Virgin Galactic”.
Interestingly, the fine print states that those interested will “become one of the first 1,000 Virgin Galactic Astronauts”. That’s the same number of seats the aerospace company recently stated that it had sold to date.
