After 699 days of closure, the 100% Fijian family-owned and multi-award-winning luxury resort for adults only, welcomed back its first guests on 1 February 2022.
Likuliku Lagoon Resort bid farewell to its last guests on 31 January 2020 as it prepared to close for what was to be, a planned 2-month renovation – reopening on 4 April 2020. But, like many resorts in Fiji, the worldwide pandemic enforced the extended closure of Likuliku, and all staff – except for a small skeleton and caretaking team, were stood down whilst Fiji waited for the world to reopen.

Re-opening day saw Likuliku welcome guests from the USA, Australia and even one couple from France. There were the widest of smiles and some tears as everyone rejoiced in the wonderful moments of finally being open again and guests able to travel again after so very long.
Fijian owner and Managing Director Tony Whitton said: “We have waited and worked hard towards this day for a long time. There are definitely not enough words to explain the feelings of excitement, relief and joy we have, that we can finally get our staff back to work and once again and welcome our valued guests to our shores.”
“It’s been a long and difficult road not just for us, but for literally millions around the world,” Whitten said.
“Fiji’s economy is so dependent on tourism, so it’s been a truly challenging time and with much hardship for so many, but nothing can dampen the resilience of the Fijian people who are renowned for rising up from adversity many times before – and this time won’t be different.”
“We are overjoyed and so encouraged by the high levels of bookings arriving into the resort over the coming months, and we hope this is the start of a promising recovery,” he added.
To welcome back guests, Likuliku Lagoon Resort is offering a special package: Stay 4 nights and receive the 5th night free, valid for stays to 31 March 2022. Also included is a 1-hour Aromatic Couples Massage in the Tatadra Spa, 2-hour private island picnic on “Honeymoon Island” – exclusively for Likuliku guests, and FJD$500 beverage credit.
