Air New Zealand is launching new non-stop flights between Auckland and New York JFK commencing 17 September 2022.

Subject to regulatory approvals, the Kiwi-carrier will operate the route three times per week on a year-round basis, using specially configured Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.

Air New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Greg Foran said the service provides a one-stop connection to the Big Apple for guests from Australia, with a short stopover in Auckland.

“New York is an iconic yet familiar city, a bucket list item. We’re thrilled to be able to offer our Australian customers more choice to get to North America, connecting onto our flagship Auckland – New York flights from our nine Australian ports,” Foran said.

“As an international service from start to finish, it’s a unique proposition and really is the easiest way to get to the Big Apple, on the World’s Safest Airline.

“Customers have the choice to either connect directly onto their New York flight or arrive a few days early and explore everything Auckland has to offer,” Foran remarked.

“We’ve worked hard over the last few years to make this ultra-long-haul service a reality – it’s one of the longest routes in the world.

Foran continued, saying: “To ensure customers arrive in New York feeling refreshed, we’ve put a lot of thought into the onboard experience and teams are working around the clock to make sure this is a great flying experience.”

He said the US has always been a key source market for Air New Zealand, and the AKL-JFK route “cements our commitment to growing tourism opportunities with Australia, New Zealand and the US.”

Guests wishing to continue beyond New York will be able to connect onto domestic flights in the US, and destinations in Canada and the UK through the airline’s partner, United Airlines.

With the addition of New York, Air New Zealand will operate to seven destinations in North America – Chicago, Honolulu, Houston, Los Angles, San Francisco and Vancouver.
