Imagine cruising the Kimberleys in a three-masted luxury yacht with only 32 other guests. It’ll be possible from April next year when PONANT debuts its iconic sailing yacht Le Ponant that’ll be based in the Asia Pacific region for six months of the year.

“We’re doing it in partnership with Australia’s prestigious Paspaley Group that will deliver a new concept in luxury sailing expeditions in our north-west,” said Sarina Bratton, PONANT Chairman Asia Pacific.

Bratton, who made the announcement at Paspaley’s upmarket Martin Place Sydney store, said Le Ponant will be the third ship of the PONANT fleet to be based in this region that will create compelling travel experiences in barefoot luxury.

She said guests will be able to experience a breathtaking sailing environment as well as shore landings on state-of-the-art Zodiacs allowing guests to discover hidden gems and to take in the remarkable beauty of the magnificent coastline.

To add to the unique experience, Paspaley’s vintage Grumman Mallard amphibious flying boat will take guests on a spectacular scenic flight between Broome and Kununurra and Kuri Bay as well as a tour of Paspaley pearl farms.

Bratton told LATTE that there will be nothing like it in our waters. “We will highlight a special mix of adventure, sustainability and refined French-inspired service and hospitality.”

“With just 16 staterooms and suites (including an Owner’s Suite), you’ll feel as if you’re on your own private yacht,” Bratton said.

88m long and 56m high, and with a 1-1 guest ratio, suites and cabins are spread over three decks, each featuring large windows to take in the stunning scenery.

“Our guests will be treated to fine gastronomic cuisine in Le Diamant panoramic restaurant using exceptionally high quality organic and local products,” added Bratton.

The new Le Ponant itineraries will offer 7-14 night sailings from April to October 2023 in the Northern and Southern Kimberley regions and can be booked from later this May.
