DayAway, an online destination for booking hotels by the day, has arrived in Australia.
Founded by lifestyle and technology leader Martha Waslen, DayAway launched in Singapore in 2021 with prestigious hotel partners such as Raffles Hotel Singapore and The Fullerton Hotel Singapore among the first to embrace the opportunity to offer exclusive daytime experiences to a growing community. Other noteworthy hotels in Singapore such as Marina Bay Sands Singapore, The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore, Andaz Singapore have since joined the DayAway platform.

The group expanded to Hong Kong and Thailand in late 2021, with partners such as the stunning Rosewood Hong Kong, as well as the lush Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel Bangkok.
“I’ve always enjoyed spending time in beautiful hotels whether it’s for lunch with friends or for an indulgent spa treatment. I thought that there should be an easier way to offer and access daytime experiences at some of the world’s best luxury hotels on a single digital platform,” said Waslen, Founder and CEO of DayAway.

DayAway brings a fresh perspective to traditional ways of experiencing hotels, and provides a B2B2C solution for the global hospitality industry by optimising and monetising their underutilised ancillary spaces. It is powered by innovative SaaS technology and incorporates content and design to showcase curated daytime experiences to its audience.
Travellers of all stripes can make the most of DayAway experiences within their own destinations or on their journeys abroad. The expansion to international markets commences with Australia this week, and will continue this year to the UAE, UK and USA.
“DayAway allows hotels to add to and diversify their revenues by allowing guests to enjoy particular areas of their properties and enable them to be fully utilised,” Waslen explained.
“It has strong appeal for guests who may already frequent the hotels as overnight guests and like the idea of a special daytime experience; it’s also attractive for new and next-generation customers,” the entrepreneur said.

Four hotels in Australia have joined DayAway for its debut in the country – namely Park Hyatt Sydney, The Langham, Sydney, Jackalope Mornington Peninsula, and COMO The Treasury in Perth.
Among the DayAway Experiences offered with the Australian launch properties are:
-
- The Park Hyatt Sydney’s Signature Afternoon Tea in the Living Room, offering a commanding view of Sydney harbour
- At Jackalope, the Wine Immersion and Lunch includes a walking tour of the vineyards, a wine tasting, and lunch overlooking the vines in Rare Hare
- The Classic Afternoon Tea at The Langham, Sydney
- Luxury for the Day at COMO The Treasury offers the chance to spend a day in the hotel’s luxurious surrounds – based in either a Heritage or a Heritage Balcony Room – with a dining credit to enjoy a lunch at one of its two restaurants and a COMO Shambhala Treatment in the spa

Lynne Ireland, the Sydney-based Chief Commercial Officer of DayAway adds, “We are thrilled to welcome these superb Australian properties to DayAway, and know the market will embrace the immediacy of booking, the diversity of day experiences and gifting opportunities within our collection in Australia and internationally.”
Ireland told LATTE that while DayAway doesn’t pay travel advisor commission, the feedback from travel agents has been overwhelmingly supportive, with the platform providing “immediacy of booking for incredible day experiences” that can be incorporated into a larger itinerary and their own booking fee.
