The Tasman is a truly unique architectural experience that blends the site’s historical legacy with a striking modern vision. Each of the 152 unique rooms highlight a distinct character and experience. Original artworks from local artists, warming fireplaces and island baths are some of the highlight features within. Guests also have a rare opportunity to experience three eras of design within the hotel; from walking the history-filled hallways of the original 1840s heritage building, admiring the understated luxury of the Art Deco building, or taking in the spectacular views of the Hobart waterfront from the glass ensconced Pavilion Building.

Among the signature new suites includes The St. David’s Park Suite, the crowning jewel of The Tasman’s heritage building, and the epitome of the heritage character of the hotel overlooking St David’s Park. The lofty ceiling, crafted from Baltic Pine originally used as ballast for the first tall ships arriving into Hobart, takes the form of an inverted boat hull, creating a dramatic sense of grandeur in the room. Warmed by the heritage fireplace, the spacious suite features exposed sandstone walls with carefully curated original artwork and a handcrafted Tasmanian blackwood timber bath.
Meanwhile, The Pavilion Suites offer a sensory impact on arrival. The expanse of these two corner suites reflect panoramic views across Hobart’s historic waterfront to the River Derwent. Subtle blues and greys elegantly mirror the maritime environment, offering a picture of sophistication and contemporary design, complemented by original artworks. Tastefully furnished with a decadent Superking bed and freestanding bath, a stay in these suites offers a truly indulgent experience.
Situated on the rooftop, The Aurora Suite is the pinnacle of The Tasman’s luxury accommodation. The suite boasts panoramic views of Hobart’s waterfront and city skyline, best experienced from its private rooftop terrace, which features a Tasmanian handcrafted sandstone and glass Van Tuil fire pit. The 108 square-metre suite also features an island bath.
The Tasman’s beautiful rooms and suites also include fine Italian linens from Frette’ and provide the hotel team with an additional opportunity to engage local suppliers in a co-branded amenity and minibar collaboration. As such, the selection is notable, including various Australian brands such Beauty and the Bees and Grown Alchemist.
An array of Tasmanian food and beverage refreshments are also included in the top suites, including Lark Distillery’s Docks Release single malt, crafted just for The Tasman, an exclusive beer collaboration with Moo Brew and Storm + India organic wellness teas.
The Tasman is just steps from the waterfront, Mona Ferry and Salamanca Markets.
