The Range Byron Bay

A stable of intimate, isolated, luxury villas, private residences and estates have been handpicked by a former Tourism Australia senior executive and pooled into a new portfolio branded Luxury Villas Australia.

Managing Partner of the collection, US-based Michelle Gysberts, launched Luxury Villas Australia to align with the Australia Travel Market in Los Angeles this week. In the coming days, she will introduce the brand to luxury travel advisors from across the globe at Virtuoso Travel Week in Las Vegas.

The program complements sister brand, Luxury Villas New Zealand, which has already launched.

Located in pristine settings from Australia’s dramatic coastline to the outback, to private islands to an urban oasis, the Villas are designed to meet the growing local and international demand for accommodations that sit perfectly in place, providing the flexibility and luxury to curate experiences that complement the purpose of stay.

This distinctive collection fulfils the discerning travellers’ desire for exclusivity while experiencing the authentic destination and culture.

Naiko Retreat

Luxury Villas Australia comprises an initial medley of six properties spread across the country. Founding partners include The Range Byron Bay, The Frames and Naiko Retreat in South Australia; Satellite Island in Tasmania, Domic Noosa in Queensland and a floating villa on the water of Sydney’s Palm Beach, Lilypad.

The Villas’ range of facilities includes; infinity pools, designer kitchens, spas, gyms, movie theaters, stunning landscapes, and outdoor entertaining areas which are enhanced with access to private chefs, local wellness instructors, indigenous musicians, photographers, marine biologists, surf instructors, winemakers, and personal hiking guides.

The private villa/residence experience is suitable for couples, small groups of friends or family, providing the flexibility to tailor their stay to the amenities and experiences they require.

Domic, Noosa

Gysberts is a former Vice President Americas for Tourism Australia. Previously headquartered in LA, she now operates from New York and has retained a close affinity with Australia.

She told LATTE the Luxury Villas Australia brand concept was born during the COVID pandemic.

“Australia continues to be the number one desired destination for American travellers, if time and money was no object,” she explained.

“We observed travel patterns were changing. The big bustling hotel properties lost their appeal. Consumers wanted more intimate spaces where they could travel in their own ‘bubble’ with family and friends and in spectacular surroundings with space and an opportunity to explore the destination, paired with great experiences,” Gysberts said.

“When we explored the ‘villa’ offering there were lots of different platforms but they were extremely inconsistent in their offering – a mixed bag. That’s how it was identified to have a collection that aligned on values, offerings and unique spaces,” she said.

Satellite Island, Tasmania

Gysberts says the Luxury Villas Australia properties were handpicked for their location, “extraordinary spaces inside and out,” and operated by passionate owners.

“What makes this collection noteworthy is that each Villa has been developed by a visionary private owner who took their inspiration from their surroundings to design a unique sense of place that appeals to a discerning sophisticated consumer.”

Their passion is shared on the Luxury Villas Australia website, where the owners’ inspiration and story behind their villa. The platform also highlights key attractions in the local area of the villa and details unique ‘Signature Experiences’ on offer.

For example, The Range Byron Bay is an exquisite escape on the New South Wales Far North Coast. Set on 50 hectares, this homestead targets those looking to immerse themselves in the richness of the beautiful architecture and natural surroundings. The grounds are lush and exceptional for outdoor entertaining, with a swimming pool, a lavish quintessential Australia barbeque area, an amphitheatre for storytelling or local entertainment, plus a helicopter landing area.

The Frames

In South Australia, The Frames is pure outback luxury, set on secluded clifftops, the retreats overlook the Murray River, Australia’s longest river. Each villa has a private heated pool and spa and balcony with unobstructed views of the Murray River. The Frames is ideal for those who simply want to rejuvenate in a serene setting, or get curious and explore. Whether that be on a sunset cruise aboard a 100-year-old restored Gondola with champagne in hand as it glides through the Riverland creeks, or for those that are interested in exploring the diverse wildlife and birds of the region the Wetland and Wildlife cruise.

Naiko Retreat is an eco-escape on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula coastline. It is situated within an 800-hectare operating sheep farm on a cliff overlooking a pristine beach. Naiko Retreat is self-sustainable, and the environment, wildlife, and natural wonders are front and center. Floor-to-ceiling windows have panoramic views of rugged cliffs to turquoise seas that stretch to Kangaroo Island. There is even an architectural Futuro spaceship for guests to surrender to the bliss of scheduled massage treatments.

Other opening collection partners include the secluded island experience on Satellite Island in Tasmania, a floating villa in Sydney, and an innovative, eco-friendly 6-bedroom masterpiece on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

Lilypad, Palm Beach

Further Villas are being added to the collection over the coming months, and new prospects are able to register their interest in becoming a Foundation Member online.

“Our vision is to collate a collection of exceptional private lodgings that showcases the individual spirit of Australia in locations that reaffirm why Australia is still one of the most desired vacation destinations,” Gysberts said.

“Luxury Villas Australia are the perfect setting for Australians to explore their own backyard or entertain those visiting friends and family from overseas,” she concluded.
