Southern Crossings, specialists in bespoke luxury travel in Australia and New Zealand, became the first antipodean to claim the title of ‘Best On-Site’ at the annual Virtuoso Travel awards ceremony in Las Vegas last week.
Commenting on the recognition, Stuart Rigg, Owner-Director Southern Crossings Australia, said it was a “huge honour and incredibly humbling, to have been recognised with this award by the world’s leading luxury travel network and the travel advisors we serve.”
The winners of the ‘Virtuoso Luminaries, Legends and Leaders’ awards are voted for by Virtuoso Travel Advisors, with the Best On-Site selected from Virtuoso’s impressive collection of more than 180 leading destination management companies representing every corner of the globe.

The Virtuoso Travel awards recognise luxury travel companies that go above and beyond, with the Best On-Site specifically awarded to the Destination Management Company that creates outstanding custom experiences, something that Southern Crossings has prided itself on for more than 36 years.
“We are incredibly proud to have accepted this award on behalf of our Travel Design teams in Sydney and Auckland, in recognition of their passion and dedication to delivering expectation-exceeding travel experiences, every time,” added Sarah Farag, Owner-Director Southern Crossings New Zealand who accepted the award with Rigg at the Virtuoso Travel Week Awards gala.
The award rides on the coattails of a number of recent achievements that also serve as testament to Southern Crossings’ creativity and unwavering commitment to inspiring and delivering standard-setting luxury travel experiences, even when Australia and New Zealand’s borders were closed.
During this time, Southern Crossings produced a 10-week luxury travel inspiration television series, Lap of Luxury. Now in its second season, the series has aired on prime-time New Zealand television and is currently showing on a collection of global lifestyle channels and in-flight entertainment programs, ahead of other prime-time television announcements soon.
