Hurtigruten Expeditions’ small, premium ships make it possible to venture beyond the more popular routes into Alaska’s remote ports and unspoiled wilds, and their focus on sustainability and innovative technology means leaving no trace in these pristine areas.

Hurtigruten Expeditions’ two hybrid-powered expedition ships, MS Roald Amundsen and MS Fridtjof Nansen, are packed with ground-breaking green technology, such as battery packs, heat recovery systems, and a cutting-edge hull design. These innovations combined reduce carbon emissions by more than 20% compared to other cruise ships of the same size.

The ships are not just cutting edge when it comes to sustainability – the Science Center is the heart of the expedition ships, featuring high-tech equipment, a library and interactive computer screens, this is where the Expedition Team share their deep knowledge of nature and history, to truly immerse your clients in the destination. Take part in hands-on demonstrations and workshops to learn more about Alaska’s ecology and geology, using microscopes and other high-tech equipment.

One day your clients will be cruising on small explorer boats, spotting wildlife as they go, the next they’ll head ashore, getting a taste of local life, while the Expedition Team provides tips to take your clients’ photos to the next level. For the adventurous traveller, kayaking and hiking activities bring them closer to nature.

The stunning scenery is reflected in a rich and comfortable interior design. Scandinavian materials from nature, such as granite, oak, birch and wool are used to create relaxed and stylish cabins and public areas. All cabins are outside cabins, of which 50% have private balconies, and aft suites feature private outdoor hot tubs with spectacular views.
