Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour has this week revealed plans to launch a multi-level wellness spa, dubbed Sofitel Spa.
Opening in January 2023, the luxurious urban retreat will deliver a holistic and totally indulgent revitalisation experience targeting the body, mind and soul.
Set on Level Four – the same floor as the infinity pool – Sofitel Spa will be spread over two levels overlooking Darling Harbour, and will offer a multi-layered wellness experience that embraces the values of care, rest, nourishment and movement with all of its treatments aligning with the seasons.
Boasting seven treatment rooms including two suites designed by award-winning design firm, Pike Withers, guests can expect a serene and soulful space with a calming palette of soft timbers, sandstone and marble finishes, and Australian-made furnishings. An infrared sauna, relaxation deck and meditation zone will also form part of the superb Sofitel Spa journey.
Considered and sophisticated touch points can be expected at every corner, with a bespoke bath overlooking Darling Harbour making a statement in one of the treatment suites, very much in-keeping with the hotel’s signature bathrooms which overlook the unique harbour city view.
According to Cecilia Ferreyra, launch Director of Spa & Wellness, Sofitel Spa will embrace the global shift in what it means to take care of oneself.
“We have designed our new day spa to nurture and empower guests in their wellness journey, assisting them in identifying their needs and gently guiding them in accomplishing their own goals, whether that relates to fitness, stillness of the mind, replenishment with nutrition or achieving glowing skin,” Ferreyra said.
“Our aim is to create bespoke journeys for each of our guests which means all treatments are tailor made, so guests walk out feeling the full benefits of being in our care. We’re also embracing the seasons by introducing unique sensory elements across the Spa that honour the natural rhythm of our bodies,” she said.
According to Greg Brady, General Manager of Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour, wellness continues to be the “new” luxury which is why the hotel has incorporated wellbeing across all of the luxury properties’ touchpoints.
“We recognise the need for a hotel such as ours to have a complete wellness offering, particularly post pandemic and at a time when people are much more attuned to keeping well.
“Not only has travel changed as a result of the global pandemic but so too have the expectations of our customers. Offering a 360-degree experience that includes consideration around mind, body and soul is the future of hospitality and our goal is to be a leader in wellness travel in Sydney,” Brady said.
With the aim of redefining wellbeing, Sofitel Spa will offer customised treatments and experiences that balance French indulgence with Australian authenticity and the Spa’s carefully chosen products are a reflection of this.
Luxury French beauty brand Biologique Recherche has been chosen to provide guests with a clinical approach to personalised cosmetic treatment using pure, concentrated almost raw products, which is the foundation of Biologique Recherche’s methodology. Therapists will be specially trained in using the active-ingredient products, while emerging Australian brand, Waterlily will provide the Sofitel Spa guests with a more sensory journey through aromatherapy and ritual.
While traditional treatments such as massages, facials, body wraps and exfoliations will be available, the Spa’s signature will be half-day wellness journeys that combine the elements of Movement (exercise), Nourishment (healthy cuisine), Care (treatments) and Rest (introspection) to provide a tailored holistic sojourn.
Further details will be revealed soon.
