Hurtigruten Expeditions has made two key appointments for its Asia-Pacific operations, with Amber Wilson Hurtigruten’s Sales Director, Asia Pacific and Marisa Jones who has stepped into the role of Marketing Manager.
Both Wilson and Jones have a proven track record of delivering impressive results, and are expected to further strengthen Hurtigruten’s highly successful Sales and Marketing team, working alongside Asia-Pacific Marketing Director, Joel Victoria.
Wilson possesses extensive knowledge of all facets of cruise operations (previously holding senior roles at CruiseCo and Silversea for a combined 13.5 years) and a proven track record in maximising business outcomes within the industry.
She brings over 25 years’ experience to Hurtigruten, with her sales and marketing career spanning multiple facets of the industry, representing international hotel chains, tour companies and luxury rail operator, Rocky Mountaineer, with whom she was most recently Regional Sales Director, Australia and New Zealand for over 4 years.
Wilson said: “The extraordinary depth of the destinations within Hurtigruten’s portfolio is incredibly impressive and definitely part of the position’s appeal.
“But the company’s strong sustainability stance was also a key factor that drove my decision to return to cruising as the brand is very much aligned with my own values and is one which I will be proud to represent.”
Jones took up the post last month as Hurtigruten’s new Marketing Manager for the APAC region. She previously worked alongside Joel Victoria while Global Brand Manager for Captain’s Choice.
A creative and dynamic marketer with over 18 years’ industry experience, her resumé also includes senior positions with APT Group and most recently as Group Marketing Manager for IHG Hotels, after a successful career working with some of Australia’s leading advertising and creative agencies.
With her comprehensive marketing background, coupled with strong interpersonal skills, Jones will play a key role in ensuring that Hurtigruten continues to uphold its reputation as one of the world’s leading cruise brands.
“As someone who is obsessed with everything travel – especially travel brands tackling sustainability authentically, I’m so grateful and excited to be joining an incredible company with such an experienced team,” Jones said.
“I’m really looking forward to building on the work the marketing team has been doing in the APAC region and contributing to its ongoing success.”
Damian Perry, Hurtigruten’s Asia-Pacific Managing Director and VP Sales & Marketing is also looking forward to working with the two new recruits.
“Together, Amber and Marisa offer a wellspring of invaluable experience, having both previously worked with some of the world’s leading travel and tourism brands.
“There’s no doubt they’re starting with us at a really exciting time. Both will bring a strong strategic focus to their roles and I know they’re going to be invaluable in helping Hurtigruten reaffirm our position as a global leader in expedition cruising, growing awareness of our product offering and building our market the Asia Pacific region.”
