Los Angeles Tourism hosted 60 key industry partners and media for an afternoon cocktail party reception at CIRQ Rooftop, Crown Sydney on Thursday [1 December 2022].
In attendance from Los Angeles Tourism were Adam Burke, CEO & President; Don Seoch, Chief Marketing Officer, Kathy Smits, SVP of Global Tourism Development, Craig Gibbons, Managing Director – Asia Pacific and Kathleen Brown, Travel Trade Manager – Asia Pacific.
With stunning views over Darling Harbour, guests were treated to canapes and cocktails inspired by the City of Angels, before receiving an update on Los Angeles from Burke, who provided an update on the progress of the city’s recovery post-pandemic and the latest numbers on Australia’s POE to LAX – with Australia the #1 region in the Asia-Pacific.
Burke gave a comprehensive update on what travellers can expect from “L.A. 2.0”, including infrastructure enhancements such as a reimagined Los Angeles International Airport, new developments, sporting events including the 2026 World Cup and the 2028 Olympics and Paralympics Games sites. He also touched on LA’s thriving food and nightlife scene with new Michelin-rated restaurants, new hotels (of which there have almost 5,000 rooms added in the past two years) entertainment options, such as Universal Studios Hollywood’s soon-to-open Super Nintendo World, plus a revamped Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood.
2023 will also be the 100th anniversary of the iconic Hollywood Sign.
In addition, Don Skeoch updated attendees on the recent launch of L.A. Tourism’s global marketing campaign – the city’s largest-ever media campaign worldwide, which invites travellers to discover what’s ‘Now Playing’ in the City of Angels, with a heavy focus on Australia’s east coast cities of Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
