Regent expands with two new hotel signings

Landmark Cannes and Shanghai properties join the future pipeline

InterContinental Hotels Group’s luxury brand, Regent Hotels & Resorts, has secured two new additions to its stable in Cannes and in Shanghai.

In Cannes, IHG is continuing its partnership with Katara Hospitality, where the brand will unite with the iconic Carlton Cannes to become, Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel, from mid 2023, after a two-year multi-million dollar redevelopment.

The property will become a flagship property within the new generation of Regent Hotels & Resorts, as the brand returns to reimagine modern luxury once more.

Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel will have 332 rooms and 37 branded residences, designed by revered French interior designer Tristan Auer. The grand-scale renovation program will skillfully preserves the hotel’s historic features, including its legendary façade, whilst creating a modern-day masterpiece that echoes the design philosophy of new Regent Hotels & Resorts.

Meanwhile in China, IHG has signed a management deal to open the Regent Shanghai on The Bund next year.

Scheduled to open in 2023 after renovations are completed, becoming the second Regent in Shanghai, continuing the legendary model of luxury offered by the brand. It also marks further deepening and expansion of the increasingly mature luxury travel market by IHG and Shanghai Seagull Holdings.

The signing of The Regent Shanghai on The Bund is an important milestone for the Group in implementing its strategy of localisation and expanding the brand portfolio.

The Regent Shanghai on The Bund is located among some of the most historical and culturally significant stretches of buildings in the country at a unique spot where the Huangpu River and Suzhou Creek meet.

The property will have more than 130 rooms, which is close to the number in the original hotel. As the second Regent Hotel to open in Shanghai, the signing of The Regent Shanghai on The Bund combines the classic Seagull hotel heritage with Regent’s experience in providing luxury accommodation, enriching consumers’ leisure and travel choices in the new era.
