Viking’s 2019 Valhalla Club members take to the sea

Top sellers enjoy Mediterranean coastline aboard Viking Sky

Viking’s long-awaited 2019 Valhalla Club members have spent eight days exploring the iconic cities and seaside towns along the Mediterranean coastline to celebrate their achievements.

The exclusive Valhalla Club recognises the cruise line’s most elite supporting agents. In a nod to Viking’s Norwegian heritage, the Valhalla name comes from Scandinavian mythology, meaning a heavenly place reserved for heroes.

“Our Valhalla Club is a way of recognising and thanking those agents that have supported us over the year and this trip is an opportunity for them to step away, relax and rejuvenate,” said Michelle Black, Managing Director Viking ANZ.

The group enjoyed the new Finnair business class experience before boarding Viking Sky for eight days in the Mediterranean.

Highlights on the 8-day Iconic Western Mediterranean voyage included visiting Avignon and the Pope’s Palace, indulging in Sete’s regional delicacy of Tielle pie (Octopus pie), trying their hand at the famous Monte Carlo Casino, propping up the Leaning Tower of Pisa and participating in a cooking class in a Tuscan castle.

On board, the group wined and dined in Viking’s suite of onboard restaurants, including The Chef’s Table, Manfredi’s, the World Café and The Restaurant, where several agreed they enjoyed the best lobster of all time. They spent the evenings entertained with an Abba show, a Beatles tribute and dancing the night away at Torshavn.

To cap off a week of exploration, the group embraced the true spirit of the Vikings with a centuries-old Nordic bathing ritual of hot-cold therapy to detoxify the body, relax tired muscles and boost circulation.

“What an honour to have achieved Viking Valhalla. The cruise was amazing and cannot be faulted in any way. The dining options onboard were incredible, the shore excursions and optional tours were wonderful and the staff on board are so accommodating to guests’ needs and no request is too much for them,” said Ann Williams from Travel Makers.
