Austria National Tourist Office (ANTO) has relocated its local headquarters from Mosman on Sydney’s North Shore to the office of the Austrian Consul General in the CBD this month, LATTE can reveal.
Kathrina Denk, Market Representative Australia for ANTO told LATTE last week the ‘co-working space’ of Team-Austria within the Austrian Trade Commission and the Consul General on York Street provided significant benefits for the tourism bureau, including the obvious cost-saving benefit, but also being part of Advantage Austria – the foreign trade promotion organisation of the Austrian economy.
28-year-old Denk was promoted from the head of Marketing at ANTO AU late last year after Astrid Gruchmann-Licht departed the Director role in November. Denk is certainly no newcomer to this market, having started as an intern with the tourist board under Gruchmann-Licht before taking on full-time responsibilities in 2017.

Denk now has her own intern who commenced in the role earlier this month and will be under her tutelage until July.
The landmark 1 York Street address has benefits including the camaraderie of her national counterparts at Advantage Austria and a shared boardroom and meeting space. AA works to generate more international business opportunities by promoting products and services of Austrian companies.
Meanwhile, Denk said Australian overnight stays in Austria in December 2022 were down 19% on pre-COVID levels in 2019, a “really good” result with over 46,000 overnights. “It was one of our strongest months since the pandemic”. She said the recovery for the Australian market at the end of last year was driven by ski tourism and the magical Christmas Markets.
