Hapag-Lloyd Cruises will deploy one of its three purpose-built expedition ships to Scandinavia for the 2023/24 winter season. HANSEATIC nature will for the first time offer northern light voyages to Norway and winter adventures to Lapland for the Northern winter period.

Eight of the Nordland trips with the small expedition ship have seen Hapag-Lloyd Cruises adjust the ports of embarkation and disembarkation, effective January 2024, among other things. In the coming winter season, guests can now choose trips with departures or arrivals from Hamburg, Kiel or Tromsø.

The new winter program is open to bookings online under changed travel numbers.

In the winter of 2021/2022, HANSEATIC spirit, the third newbuild of the expedition class, explored the Gulf of Bothnia, the then-undiscovered North Sea of the Baltic Sea. The snow-covered landscapes, which can be experienced on cross-country ski tours, snowshoe hikes and sleigh rides with huskies and reindeer, was so well received by Hapag-Lloyd’s guests that these trips are again included in the program of the luxury and expedition travel provider in winter 2023/2024.

For the first time, HANSEATIC nature is heading for Scandinavia towards Norway as well as Swedish and Finnish Lapland. Experiences from the premiere winter of 2021/2022 with the HANSEATIC spirit have brought with it insights that mean a route adjustment for eight of the twelve Scandinavian voyages aboard HANSEATIC nature. While the voyages in winter 2023 will continue to take place from/to Hamburg, from January 2024 the voyages will operate to and from Kiel, for nautical reasons. Also new is a change of passengers in Tromsø on four Northern Lights adventures to Norway. In this way, guests can experience winter beyond the Arctic Circle.

While the HANSEATIC nature explores winter in Scandinavia on the new routes, the guests on the sister ships HANSEATIC inspiration and HANSEATIC spirit experience impressive moments in Antarctica.

The three small and highly modern first-class expedition ships accommodate a maximum of 230 guests (199 guests on trips to Antarctica and the Spitsbergen circumnavigation). Seventeen Zodiacs on board make landings in remote areas possible regardless of the port.
