Melbourne-based travel representative, Journeys Representation, has expanded its stable of partners in Sri Lanka to now include the resorts of Heritance Ayurveda, Heritance Negombo and Heritance Kandalama. The expansion builds on Journey Representation’s strong ties with Sri Lanka and the surrounding region over the past four years, which included her appointment last year as the local rep in Australia for sister property in the Maldives, the premium all-inclusive resort, Heritance Aarah.
Kirsty Thomas-Thoeun, Founder of Journeys Representation told LATTE that adding three further Heritance properties in Sri Lanka was a natural brand extension of her existing arrangement. Thomas-Thoeun said Heritance Hotels handpicked Journeys Representation for the Australian and New Zealand market due to its strong focus on luxury travel and tight affiliation with Sri Lanka and her neighbouring nations.

With Journeys Representation based in the Victorian capital, travel advisors in Australia and New Zealand can contact Thomas-Thoeun to discuss how to best fit the Heritance properties into a Sri Lankan itinerary, or how a stay at Heritance Ayurveda (right) can be tailored into a package to suit a retreat or wellness group. She is also available via email — australia@heritancehotels.com — to provide advisors with a range of sales material such as images and videos for social media or client newsletters, or can arrange an in-house or online training session on the Heritance properties.
“It’s no secret Sri Lanka has had a tough time,” Thomas-Thoeun said. “Sri Lanka as a destination is now rebounding after the recent traumatic events that have hit its tourism – the 2019 Easter bombings, COVID and economic/political crisis of 2022. However, 2023 has seen a recovery in Sri Lanka as a destination and visitors are finding the country and its tourism providers ready to welcome travellers from Australia and New Zealand.
“2024 is shaping to be a huge year for the destination. Heritance Hotels acknowledges this and that’s why they have chosen to return to Australia with a representation presence after a hiatus of over 5 years.”
