Aqua Expeditions enhances internet capabilities

Small ship operator adds SpaceX's Starlink across fleet

Aqua Expeditions has introduced SpaceX’s Starlink Satellite Internet on Aqua Mare, Aqua Nera, and Aqua Blu and will deploy the same tech aboard Aria Amazon and Aqua Mekong by September 2023. Aqua says it is now the only small ship expedition line to offer the groundbreaking technology on its voyages to the world’s most biodiverse and culturally significant destinations.

By placing their Starlink constellation in a low-Earth orbit, SpaceX is able to deliver faster internet by decreasing the distance that information must travel to reach the ground. The company currently has a network of more than 2,500 satellites, providing a wide net of coverage even in the world’s most remote locations, whether it be the jungles of the Peruvian Amazon, East Indonesia’s Coral Triangle, the Mekong River in Vietnam and Cambodia, or the islands of the Galapagos.

Francesco Galli Zugaro, CEO & Founder of Aqua Expeditions said: “I am excited to offer reliable quality internet service to our guests and crew. Our goal is to provide the best possible wifi connection to allow guests to stay in touch with friends and family, particularly during our longer voyages of seven, 12 and 14 nights.”

Guests of all ships will have access to two hours of free wifi per day. Guests can also purchase unlimited wifi at $100 per person for the duration of the sailing.
