Austria is synonymous with classical music, the heritage of famous composers and the Waltz. By partnering with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Austrian National Tourist Office has been building a musical bridge to the other side of the world for nearly two decades.
And there couldn’t be a more fitting partnership between Austria with its unique musical legacy (more famous composers have lived in Vienna than in any other city) and Australia’s most prestigious orchestra. One of the highlights of the partnership between ANTO and the SSO was the project “Visions of Vienna” in 2015 when the sold-out concert “Greatest Hits from Vienna” was projected onto the sails of the Sydney Opera House in real-time.

On 1 May, ANTO and the Austrian Federal Minister for Labour and Economy, Martin Kocher, invited key partners to an exclusive ‘Viennese Coffeehouse’ at the Sydney Opera House to celebrate the continuation of the partnership agreement – Apple Strudel and original Sacher Torte included!
Interesting fact: an Austrian company, Waagner-Biro, spearheaded the renovation of the stage in the concert hall.
