Intimate luxury retreat set to debut in Northern NSW

The Brooklet comprises six one- and two-bedroom villas, inland from Byron Bay

The Northern Rivers of NSW has a new boutique-sized luxury dwelling with the imminent opening of The Brooklet, inland from Byron Bay.

The Brooklet is a luxury accommodation, wellness and hospitality collective; a creation of Greta Smith and her family who, after travelling to Byron Bay more than 30 years ago, dreamt of owning a piece of land there to create something special.

The retreat – represented in Australia and New Zealand by The Unique Tourism Collection – is situated in the small town of Brooklet on a meandering, winding road where visitors can still find ‘honesty’ box roadside stalls overflowing with local produce, honey, eggs and blueberries.

Brooklet is a 20-minute drive from Byron Bay, five minutes from Newrybar and eight minutes from Bangalow.

The Brooklet presents beautifully-appointed accommodation, including spacious kitchens, in three, one- bedroom and three, two-bedroom villas, and in The Bails – originally the dairy bails. Perched on a hill overlooking the hinterland, it offers a private outdoor mineral pool and three spacious king bedrooms.

The property features a 25-metre tiled heated mineral pool, hot tub, rainwater shower, gym, infra-red sauna and ice bath and tennis court. For the adventurous, there are walking trails to a waterhole to visit the cows and up to the highest point of the estate to take in breathtaking views and spectacular sunsets.

A treatment room beckons for massages, facials, reflexology and a range of other therapeutic experiences on request. The Barn is the meeting place to head to for peaceful relaxation and can be booked for workshops and private events.

The Bar is perfect for a long lunch overlooking the pool and rolling hills or dinner under the stars and features a floor-to-ceiling cellar and wood fireplace with swivel chairs and leather occasional seats scattered throughout.

Connecting The Barn and The Bar is The Deck which overlooks the pool and is the ideal place to sink into comfortable lounges, and, in winter, in the warmth by its wood fireplace.

Built outdoors, The Kitchen resides next to The Bar and offers an immersive food and beverage experience where guests can gather to watch dishes being created by Executive Chef, Simon Favorito and his team. Share in a locally sourced feast created by Simon or make your own pizza, harvesting produce from the property’s organic vegetable garden and orchard.

The property is accessed a few minutes off the M1 motorway, north of Ballina, via country laneways that pass through macadamia and avocado plantations.

Bookings made by travel advisors for their clients are commissionable.

Rates at The Brooklet begin at $750 per couple per night with corporate, wellness and private use packages offered.
