Forbes Travel Guide has released its full list of Star Rated and Recommended luxury cruise lines, several months after naming Celebrity Cruises as its inaugural cruise brand within its new ‘resorts at sea’ category.
Last February, seven ships from the Celebrity Cruises fleet were recognised. They included the Edge Series sister ships, Celebrity Apex, Celebrity Beyond and Celebrity Edge, alongside Celebrity Equinox, Celebrity Millennium, Celebrity Summit, and the Galapagos Island’s based Celebrity Flora.
Now, Forbes Travel Guide has welcomed three vessels from the likes of Seabourn, Silversea and Oceania Cruises to the table. Seabourn Ovation and Silver Shadow were awarded a Four Star rating, while Oceania Cruises’ Insignia was ‘Recommended’ by the authority. (For reference, Celebrity Apex, Celebrity Flora and Celebrity Millennium each were awarded Four Stars, and Celebrity Edge and Summit were also Recommended).

Recommended ships earn a place in the new guide and are FTG’s entry-level award. They assure passengers of an exceptionally comfortable cruise experience with an array of high-quality amenities and services in upscale surroundings. Four-Star ship awards denote vessels that offer not only a high-quality facility but a particularly excellent level of personalised service.
The ratings for FTG’s resorts at sea were based on incognito inspectors boarding the cruises, posing as ordinary guests and tested hundreds of exacting standards. Find out more here.
Seventy percent of a cruise’s rating relies on its service, and 3 percent of that figure is made up of a new guest experience score that looks at how the overall experience feels, including the level of personalised service, sense of place and value. The quality and condition of the facilities determine the remaining 30 percent of the rating.
