Hotels As Characterful As You

Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) have just launched their latest global campaign, Hotels As Characterful As You, an initiative that celebrates the individuality and character of its properties. The campaign aims to align each SLH property’s unique qualities with its guests’ personalities. The social media campaign involved open auditions within each locality, from which six faces were selected and paired with SLH properties to illustrate the versatility of its hotels. The global campaign will have similar executions for Australia, Singapore, Japan, and China, having been shortlisted for the Creativepool Awards.

Small Luxury Hotels of the World sustainability goals

SLH launched the Considerate Collection of actively sustainable luxury hotels in 2021. What started as a small selection of 20 hotels has grown to encompass more than 50. The brand expressed a desire to convert its entire portfolio into sustainable properties. This goal is supported by the brand’s recent acquisition of four new additions, Vila Planinka in Zgornje Jezersko, Slovenia; Wa Ale Resort in Yangon, Myanmar; Ballymaloe House Hotel in Cork, Ireland; and Gregans Castle Hotel in Ballyvaughan, Ireland. SLH is currently a Global Sustainable Tourism Council member and supports Tourism Declares‘ climate emergency declaration. As such, SLH is developing a Climate Action Plan to reduce its carbon footprint by 2030. Furthermore, all new Considerate Collection hotel members are required to adopt the SLH Sustainability Management System by Greenview, an online sustainability management portal designed specifically for hotels.

Small Luxury Hotels to resume printing travel directory

Small Luxury Hotels previously produced a printed travel directory for guests and advisors that was temporarily suspended. Due to popular demand, SLH will resume publishing its guide. However, it will be a more exclusive offering that includes a luxe coffee table book to be on display in public areas of their properties for guest perusal, a high-quality magazine for guest rooms, along with a digital version that will stand in place of hotel brochures for easy reference for travel agents.

New hotel openings

SLH has also shared details of a new hotel in Portugal, where warehouses perched upon the banks of the River Douro will soon be transformed into a 107-toom hotel to be known as The Rebello Hotel. In Myanmar, Wa Ale Resort is set to open in October 2023 with 18 beachside rooms and two Treetop Villas.
