Virgin Galactic has earmarked a flight window opening from 10 August 2023 for its first private passenger spaceflight, dubbed ‘Galactic 02’. The publically-listed aerospace firm of the Virgin Empire says the flight window early next month “continues the Company’s regular cadence of spaceflights”.

The upcoming flight from Spaceport America in New Mexico follows Virgin Galactic’s maiden spaceflight for paying passengers two weeks ago, a commercial and research flight that carried members of the Italian Air Force and the National Research Council of Italy.

‘Galactic 02’ will be Virgin Galactic’s seventh spaceflight and third this year, with three passengers onboard. It will be streamed live on Virgin Galactic’s website.

Around 800 people worldwide have purchased tickets over the past decade to fly into space with Sir Richard Branson’s space program.

Details of the flight manifest, including the crew and pilots aboard VSS Unity will be released closer to the launch date.

Virgin Galactic is aspiring to operate spaceflights on a monthly basis.
