Albatros Expeditions has confirmed the return of former Chief Executive Officer, Hans Lagerweij, to the polar expedition specialist’s top ranks. Lagerweij exited the cruise operator in early 2022 to take on a new opportunity with Four Seasons Yachts, as Senior Vice President with the start-up.
Albatros Expeditions operates the unique Ulstein X-Bow hulled Ocean Victory (delivered in 2021) and Ocean Albatros (2023) ships.
In a statement, Albatros Expeditions said it was “thrilled” to have Lagerweij back, with his position as CEO effective 1 July 2023. His LinkedIn profile indicates he started last month in June.
“After exploring other career opportunities for the past 1.5 years, Lagerweij brings his extensive expertise and passion back to Albatros Expeditions, furthering the company’s growth and innovation,” the company said.

In February 2022, Albatros Expeditions appointed Captain Michael Elwert as joint President and CEO. There is no indication on the press release if Elwert has retained either title with the return of Lagerweij.
