Antarctica Flights releases 2023/24 schedule

Seven departures including two New Year's Eve flights

Antarctica Flights has confirmed it is returning to the skies, starting November, taking guests across the Southern Ocean to see the vast white wilderness of Antarctica, all within a day.

Each flight provides a full-day Antarctic experience, with polar expeditioners on board to talk through the extraordinary environment on view. Approximately three hours south of Australia, passengers will see their first glimpses of scattered ice followed by icebergs and ice floes. The aircraft will then fly over the South Magnetic Pole, with sweeping views of the rugged mountainous topography of mainland Antarctica.

Utilising Qantas 787 Dreamliner aircraft privately chartered by Antarctica Flights, the operator will offer seven flights to the white continent from November 2023 through to February 2024, departing from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.

For those seeking a truly unique New Year’s Eve, there are Antarctica Flights scheduled from Melbourne and Brisbane on 31 December 2023. The flights depart at 4:00pm and returns at 7:00am the next morning, giving passengers the opportunity to be the first to welcome in the new year with a once-in-a-lifetime celebration in broad daylight.

Founded over 25 years ago by Phil Asker, Antarctica Flights journeys are unique in every sense. With 19 planned routes to match the day’s weather conditions, no two flights are ever the same, each with a duration of 12 to 14 hours. Each flight will accommodate around 220 passengers, with a choice of seating options from Business through to Explorer Economy.

Bas Bosschieter, CEO of Antarctica Flights says the experience is the “ultimate one-day adventure”.

“It’s a chance to see this extraordinary white wilderness from the air, and learn about the southernmost continent from polar experts. Aboard a cruise ship you only touch the edge of the coast; aboard a privately chartered plane, you soar over a continent. And you get to travel overseas, no luggage or passport required!” Bosschieter said.

In addition to offering guests the trip-of-a-lifetime, Antarctica Flights is committed to protecting the planet. Recognising Antarctica’s significant vulnerability to climate change, the company is continuing to aid further research and education through their partnership with the Antarctic Science Foundation, as well as committing to carbon offset each flight in order to protect this unique, precious, last great wilderness.

The flights are between 9,500-10,500kms round trip (approximately 12.5 hours) dependent upon departure city. Departure dates and locations are as follows:

  • Sydney – 26 November 2023 and 4 February 2024
  • Melbourne – 19 November 2023 and 31 December 2023
  • Brisbane – 31 December 2023 and 11 February 2024
  • Perth – 26 January 2024

Prices start at $1,199 for an Explorer Economy Seat and range up to $7,999 for a Business Class Deluxe.
