APT says it will build two new river ships that will launch in Europe in 2025. The decision coincides with the entry of AmaWaterways to the Australian market under its own steam, detailed exclusively by LATTE last week.
In a press release, APT said the two new European river ships will be “designed to align with the APT luxury brand and the needs and wants of Australian travellers. They will debut in 2025.
“APT is the market share leader in luxury river cruising in Australia and this marks the next steps for the business after a highly successful partnership with AmaWaterways across 10 years, the time is now right for the APT Travel Group to lead the way once again,” David Cox, CEO of the APT Travel Group.
“We have been investing in the future, and with the strong support of the McGeary family, will continue to invest and grow our portfolio in river cruising now and for many years to come.”

The release continued: “The new APT European river ships will complement the suite of other new vessels announced by the company recently. Including the brand-new ship on the Mekong River, the APT Mekong Serenity sailing for the first time in September 2023, and the brand-new river ship on the Douro, the MS Estrella making her maiden voyage next year in 2024.”
The founding family of APT Travel Group also commented on the current state of growth for the business.
