Six night expedition unlocks Tasmania's remote soutwest

Saffire Freycinet in Tasmania has partnered with luxury expedition cruise operator On Board in a select series of exclusive expeditions combining small ship adventure through the remote southwest corner of Tasmania’s Wilderness World-Heritage Area with a stay at Saffire Freycinet on the east coast’s Freycinet Peninsula.

Exclusive round-trip transfers by seaplane link the three-night luxury expedition cruise aboard Odalisque III in the southwest with a three-night stay at Saffire in the east from a Hobart base, offering seamless connections and a breathtaking aerial perspective to the island state with its rugged wilderness and sparkling coasts.

With accommodations for only 12 guests in six luxury suites onboard and at the lodge, the Coast-to-Coast Luxury six-night package is available over just three set departure dates from Hobart. Guests will travel by air to Port Davey – inaccessible by road – to join On Board before flying to Saffire Freycinet and then returning to Hobart over seven glorious days. Dates are:

The Coast-to-Coast Luxury adventure takes in the vast, untouched waterways of Port Davey, a precious harbour on the edge of the world protected by a marine reserve, national park, and the UNESCO Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. From On Board’s brand-new expedition vessel, guests are immersed in wilds few will ever reach on daily walks with expert local guides, and tender excursions exploring ancient rivers and remote bays brimming with bird and marine life.

The experience taps into new interest from travellers for Tasmania’s wild west made famous recently by TV series Alone Australia, The Bridge and Bay of Fires.

After flying with a spectacular view direct across the state to Freycinet National Park in the east, guests will relax into pure luxury at Saffire Freycinet, where daily tasting menus showcase abundant local produce including seafood from the bay and resident honey as well as premium Tasmanian wines. All-inclusive experiences include taking in the Saffire bee-keeping experience, tasting oysters straight from the bay, or discovering the First Nations heritage on a guided Connection to Country walk.

Rates on the all-inclusive six-night Coast-to-Coast Luxury package are priced from AU$27,000* and feature all dining and on-package drinks, three seaplane transfers and guided experiences with On Board and Saffire Freycinet.

Bookings for each departure date must be confirmed 45 days prior, when the expedition is closed.
