The Link Travel Group Board met in Brisbane this week to celebrate a fantastic start-up year for the new joint venture and farewell an inaugural Director. The Joint Venture between Flight Centre Travel Group, Goldman Group and Spencer Group of Companies has been successful from the start and now comprises 21 outlets from some of the country’s most recognisable and successful independent brands.
One of the Flight Centre board appointments from the start was Melanie Waters-Ryan, and in line with her retirement from Flight Centre on 30 June this year, she also stepped down from the Link Travel Group Board. Link Travel Group General Manager Scott Darlow praised Waters-Ryan’s contribution by saying, “Having Melanie as part of our inaugural board was a privilege for us all, and we were able to tap her extensive experience and knowledge, and she played a major part in the group’s rapid expansion, and success.” “Mel has been an industry icon for many years, and she has inspired a generation of leaders, especially women, to follow their dreams and reach for the stars”, Darlow added.

This comes as the Link Travel Group Advisory Board spent a few days in Brisbane last week shaping and discussing the group’s future direction. The Advisory Board is an incredible group of business leaders from within the Link membership, and all bring something unique to the table. Link General Manager Scott Darlow said, “much of the discussion last week focused on travel trends, technology, innovation and sustainability, and the Advisory Board members sure are living up to the ‘Link Standard’ with what they offer, and they are ensuring Link is ready for the future of the travel.”
“The seven members of the Advisory Board have so much to offer, and we are all looking forward to the eighth & final member joining the Advisory Board soon, but we just have to wait slightly longer before that person is revealed,” Darlow added.
