PONANT is expanding its partnership with luxury pearling company Paspaley, which is set to introduce an expedition motor yacht in the Kimberley in 2024. Operating year-round, and home-porting from Broome, M/Y Paspaley Pearl by PONANT will cater to 30 guests and signals a new era of luxury explorations in the region.

“The launch of PASPALEY PEARL by PONANT marks a milestone in the development of boutique expedition travel and we are proud to offer a new and different standard of excellence in this pristine region,” said Sarina Bratton AM, PONANT Chairwoman Asia Pacific.

“With our long-term relationship and vast combined experience, this venture is a testament to our joint commitment to sharing unique and exclusive experiences to discerning travellers.”

“Sharing the routes that my crew and I pioneered in the 1970s onboard our pearl luggers will provide wonderful opportunities for guests,” said Nicholas Paspaley AC, PASPALEY Executive Chairman. “An in-depth immersion into and understanding of the pearling industry will enrich many.”

With a combined history of more than 85 years of expertise in the Kimberley region and remote maritime operations, PONANT and PASPALEY are poised to deliver an unprecedented level of excellence to travellers seeking extraordinary experiences in one of the world’s most unique destinations.

M/Y PASPALEY PEARL will emerge as the newest and only boutique expedition motor yacht in the Kimberley with private balconies. The yacht has the highest level of environmental and technical systems rarely seen on boutique vessels of this size.

The vessel will provide a diverse range of itineraries including seven-, 10-, 12- and 14-night journeys through the Kimberley, Indonesia (Raja Ampat & Spice Islands) and Papua New Guinea.

Bratton revealed the exciting news of the partnership to guests sailing aboard the Chairman’s cruise in the Kimberley, currently underway.

Nick Paspaley acquired the vessel from receivers in early 2023. Some months later, he reached out to Bratton to discuss the opportunity.

“There has been a long association between PONANT and Paspaley Pearling Group, so it seemed appropriate to further strengthen the relationship in the Kimberley region,” Bratton told LATTE late this afternoon.

She confirmed the newly established brand would offer guests multiple helicopter excursions which will operate from the land.

Constructed by Vard Vung Tau Ltd Shipbuilding Vietnam in 2021, Paspaley and PONANT plan to upgrade the soft furnishings onboard, alongside improving functionality and introduces PONANT soft touches and service delivery.

More details and reservations will be available in November 2023.
