Banyan Tree, a luxury hospitality brand of Accor, will open its first resort in North America after signing a management contract to operate Banyan Tree Bimini Resort & Residences in the Bahamas.

Banyan Tree Bimini Resort & Residences will be situated on Rockwell Island, a secluded peninsula, surrounded by pristine sand and crystal-clear waters. Bimini is within 80 kilometres of Miami and accessible by seaplane, private charter jet, helicopter or boat. Door-to-door transportation from Miami is under 30 minutes.

The property will comprise 54 waterfront residences, a 50-key five-star hotel, and the Bonito Beach Club, all with bespoke services and amenities. A later phase of development will include a deepwater superyacht marina, private 18-hole golf course, and members’ only clubhouse.

Miami-based architectural firm Oppenheim Architecture will lead the architectural design and creative direction for the development and Raymond Jungles as the development’s landscape architect.

Banyan Tree is an operator of luxury resorts, residences and spas in destinations such as Thailand, Bali, Vietnam, and Riviera Maya. The hotel will have 24 beachfront villas and 26 overwater bungalows, akin to those in similar exotic destinations such as Maldives.

“We are delighted to partner with Rockwell Island Development Group to introduce Banyan Tree to this exceptional destination, further expanding our presence in this vibrant region. From Phuket to Shanghai, Saudi Arabia to Mexico, Banyan Tree is going global as the advocate of sustainable travel,” said Eddy See, President and CEO of Banyan Group.

“The Banyan Tree brand embodies intimacy, nature and local traditions, and Banyan Tree Bimini

Resort & Residences reflects these values by embracing the local culture and natural environment, inviting guests to immerse themselves in this Sanctuary for the Senses,” see added.

The developers have received approval for a seaplane terminal in partnership with Tropic Ocean Airways, complete with customs and immigration, to make travel to and from Banyan Tree Bimini Resort & Residences more seamless.

Construction of the first residences is already underway and they are expected to debut in early 2025.
