PONANT releases new close-to-home luxe expeditions

Three itineraries in Australia and one from New Zealand in 2024 and 2025

PONANT has announced a series of unique Australian luxury expeditions, with departures in 2024 and 2025 aboard Le Jacques-Cartier and Le Soleal.

There are three bucket-list explorations in Australia, plus one in New Zealand in the new offering. The itineraries discover white-sanded beaches of picturesque islands along the Great Australian Bight, famous gastronomic delights from Tasmania, Australia’s Wild West Coast and New Zealand’s UNESCO World Heritage Fiordlands.

Embark on a captivating 14-day journey aboard Le Jacques-Cartier to explore the stunning southern shores of Australia along the iconic Great Australian Bight.

Starting from Fremantle on 10 December, the 13-night Along Australia’s South Coast itinerary ventures down the Western Australian coast to Albany to revel in the pristine beaches and vibrant wildflower landscapes of Esperance before delving into the biodiverse wonders of the Recherche Archipelago.

Guests will indulge in South Australia’s seafood in Port Lincoln, savour McLaren Vale’s renowned wines, then experience Tasmania’s delights, from King Island’s culinary treasures to the Tamar Valley’s acclaimed vineyards. The voyage on Le Jacques-Cartier concludes in Hobart on 23 December 2024.

Next is a Christmas and New Year itinerary, the 10-night Food, Wine & Yacht Race in Tasmania voyage, commencing 23 December from Hobart.

This expedition aboard Le Jacques-Cartier explores Tasmania’s coastal marvels and culinary treasures, culminating in a New Year celebration in Hobart. Beginning in historic Hobart, guests will delve into Maria Island’s wildlife sanctuaries before traversing the Tasman Peninsula.

Explore Stanley Island’s Yindayin rock shelter adorned with historic rock art, then indulge in King Island’s gastronomic delights. Delve into the Tamar Valley’s wine and gourmet offerings before enjoying the serenity of Promise Bay.

The itinerary ends back in Hobart, experiencing the excitement of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race and the Taste of Tasmania, Australia’s largest food and wine festival.

PONANT has also released a new Broome to Fremantle voyage aboard Le Soleal, departing on 11 August 2025. The expedition encompasses ancient rock art in Murujuga National Park before diving into the history and wildlife of the Montebello Islands marine park.

Guests will explore the vibrant coral reefs of Ningaloo Coast through swimming and snorkeling adventures and discover the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Shark Bay and the Abrolhos Marine Park, home to colorful coral reefs and seabird colonies. The journey finished in Jurien Bay Marine Park, where guests encounter rare Australian sea lions amidst a picturesque island landscape.

The 10-night Australia’s West Coast Odyssey is currently priced from $13,090 per person twin share.

Another itinerary across the ditch, with two departures in December 2024 is PONANT’s Expedition to New Zealand’s Subantarctic Islands, operating roundtrip from Dunedin aboard Le Soleal.

The 14-night expedition includes Fiordland National Park, Dusky Sound, Doubtful Sound and Milford Sound, before exploring Snares Islands and Macquarie Island. The highlight of the journey will be reaching the Galapagos of the Southern Ocean, the Subantarctic Islands of New Zealand.

Currently priced at $15,880 per person twin share, the expedition will embark on 3 and 17 December 2024, the latter departure returning to Dunedin on New Year’s Eve.
