Hyatt plays switcharoo with Hyatt Centric and Andaz brands

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has revealed it’s expecting to open its first Andaz branded hotel in Dubai and second in the United Arab Emirates in the last quarter of 2019, ahead of Dubai Expo 2020.

Occupying a prime envelope of real estate on the world-famous man-made island, Palm Jumeriah, the Andaz Dubai The Palm will feature twin 15-storey towers including 217 guestrooms and 116 serviced apartments. To add to the area’s thriving culinary scene, the Andaz Dubai The Palm will offer four restaurants as well as a fitness centre, spa and meeting facilities.

“Andaz Dubai The Palm will provide a standout hospitality experience for guests in a location famous for luxury and exclusivity. Due for completion ahead of the EXPO 2020, this new venture with Hyatt will further enrich our portfolio and foster the provision of exemplary hospitality experiences to Dubai’s growing tourism market,” said HE Hesham Abdulla Al Qassim, CEO of wasl Asset Management Group, the real estate company behind the hotel’s development.

The property was previously flagged to launch as Hyatt Centric The Palm, prior to which it was earmarked as the Tiara Hotel, positioned on the trunk of The Palm Jumeirah.

Speaking exclusively to LATTE on the change, Hyatt’s VP Operations – Middle East, Africa and South West Asia., Kurt Straub, said: “At Hyatt we are committed to operating with excellence and growing with intent. It is with these core values in mind that the decision was taken to operate the property that was recently announced as Hyatt Centric The Palm as Andaz Dubai The Palm, with a scheduled opening in October 2019. Hyatt’s luxury lifestyle brand Andaz speaks to guests who are curious about the world and who want to discover local culture, and will fit perfectly to the exclusive destination of The Palm Jumeirah.”

The previously announced, and yet-to-open, Andaz La Mer Dubai in the heart of urban beachside destination La Mer will now be branded as Hyatt Centric La Mer Dubai.
